Cookies

Our website makes use of cookies to save and retrieve information about your visit to our site. Cookies are small files of software which save and retrieve information about your visit to a website or application. They reside in your internet browser to help remember your preferences and previous activity. You can find more information about cookies at www.allaboutcookies.org.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager (GTM) to manage JavaScript and HTML tags for tracking interactions and other analytics on our website. Tags are small code elements that, among other things, are used to measure traffic and visitor behaviour: to understand the effect of online advertising and social channels; to set up remarketing and orientation towards target groups; and to test and optimize websites.

This data does not include user IP addresses or any user-specific identifiers that could be associated with a particular individual. Other than data in standard HTTP request logs, all of which is deleted within 14 days of being received, Google Tag Manager does not collect, retain, or share any information about visitors to our customers’ properties, including page URLs visited. Our website uses the following tracking tools:

  • Google Analytics

For more information about GTM’s privacy practices can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en and the Google Tag Manager terms of use at https://www.google.com/analytics/tag-manager/use-policy/.

Who we share your data with

We will not sell your information to third parties and will only market to you in accordance with our legal obligations and your marketing preference.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or provided us with your personal contact details via a form on our site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We use MailChimp for sending email marketing campaigns to subscribers who have opted in to receive our newsletters or other communication.

How we protect your data

We use Mailchimp’s GDPR signup forms and double opt-in to collect contact information of subscribers and use Mailchimp to store the information. For more information, please view the Mailchimp Privacy Policy here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect users’ information when they opt-in to receive communication from us. reCAPTCHA is a free service that protects your website from spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA uses an advanced risk analysis engine and adaptive challenges to keep automated software from engaging in abusive activities on our site. It does this while letting our valid users pass through with ease. See the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for more details.
