On Monday 25th October 2021 the FPI will be hosting the prestigious awards ceremony where excellence in the Financial Planning Profession is recognised.

This event endeavours to acknowledge extraordinary Certified Financial Planners from across South Africa as well as Professional Practises who demonstrate innovation, professionalism, commitment to the clients and to the Financial Planning profession.

Financial Planner of the Year Award

This award was launched in 2000 and is considered to be the most prestigious award in the industry. It pursues to recognise the top CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® who exhibits revolutionary ideas, and skill when dealing with clients.

Professional Practice of the Year Award

The FPI Professional Practice of the Year competition was first launched in 2020.  The award honours and celebrates FPI Approved Professional Practices and seeks to confirm and communicate to the public and broader financial planning profession what these practices are all about. This is an opportunity to demonstrate innovation, professionalism, commitment to the practices’ clients and to the Financial Planning profession. All entrants must be paid-up FPI Professional Practices in good standing with FPI.

The award and the event is widely covered by the media and well attended by key stakeholders such as regulators, educational providers and other important industry role players.

Diversity and Inclusion Award

Our primary aim, as the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa, is to be a community that fosters the value of financial planning and advances the financial planning profession. The Institute’s strategy, to accomplish our objectives, involves welcoming all those who advance the financial planning process.

This award recognises individuals whose commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence has made an impact on various ethnic groups, races and diverse cultures in a positive way.

Harry Brews Award

The Chairman’s Award was introduced in 2010. In 2013, FPI renamed the award in honour of Harry Brews, the man who transformed South Africa’s life assurance industry, the first President of the then, Institute of Life and Pensions Advisors (ILPA).

The award recognises an individual who has made life-long outstanding significant contributions to the FPI through promoting the Institute and its marks and/or the financial planning profession in the areas of service to society, academia, training, government, media or any other professional activities. They must also exemplify the FPI ethics principles of client first, integrity, objectivity, fairness, professionalism, competence, confidentiality and diligence.

It Starts with me Award

This award, launched in 2015, in line with the FPI It Starts with Me programme to recognise the CFP® professional who contributes tirelessly to promote the CFP® certification. This person entrenches the CFP® mark in their work life, invests in their personal brand by letting others know that they are a CFP® professional, and volunteers where required.
